Dec 24, 2020 · Keep the geometry of the car in mind when laying up the design. Cars are not flat sails. They have curves, respect them. These cars do not often work with strong straight line breaks as the curves distort it. That doesn’t mean they can’t, but a lot of the concepts that are posted treat the whole side of the car as a flat canvas.

Divide that space in half essentially. I did this little drawing to give somewhat of a visual for the discussion if anyone feels this is something to discuss. Your thoughts? EDIT: yes I know a car is unlikely to land perfectly 180deg from upright. This is to demonstrate the idea. A car can land in infinite ways in infinite areas on the track.

Apr 8, 2020 · The way I judge a good drawing from a great drawing (with cars) is the tires. Most people that draw don’t have much trouble with the car but always struggle making the wheels/tires look right. I’m really impressed with this, especially as it’s your first go at it!

Apr 21, 2019 · As a full-time graphic designer and wannabe-F1-driver-but-way-too-old, I've set myself the challenge of drawing 100 F1 cars, from both past and present, and posting one per day for 100 consecutive days. Currently, I'm 20 days in, and so far I've drawn the entire F1 2019 grid.

Aug 22, 2019 · Right but if you zoom in on the drawing it continues across 2 different surfaces. My comment isn't about the accuracy of the line but rather that the outline of the aero element doesn't show that division in surfaces hence the loss of depth IMO.
