Lawmakers clashed Wednesday over a controversial bill that would make it easier to file civil lawsuits against gun manufacturers and make it harder for some residents to obtain a pistol permit.

As more women and young people run for public office, they’re bringing more than fresh policy ideas to statehouses.

Lawmakers approved the bill by a 134-2 vote, moving it one step closer to Gov. Greg Abbott signing it into law.
