Governor Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday that Florida law enforcement agencies will enter into additional Memoranda of Agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to enhance the state’s ability to enforce federal immigration laws.

The Trump administration is expected to issue a public health order as soon as this week labeling migrants at the US southern border as risks for spreading diseases, marking an escalation in the president’s effort to severely restrict immigration, according to three sources familiar with the discussions.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida State Guard and law enforcement under the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services signed the deal to help Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deport and detain undocumented people, according to the Governor’s Office.

Florida lawmakers are gaveling in another special legislative session on immigration, aimed at leveraging state and local resources to carry out President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda.

The new agreements involve the Florida State Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the FDLE.
