At a Samsung event in London last week, executives demoed the company’s new take on AI assistants. The headline news is that Gemini has effectively replaced Bixby as the default Galaxy phone AI, even kicking the latter out of the quick-launch home button.

At its Unpacked event last week, Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy S25 lineup and spent a majority of the time talking about AI -- a trend in phone announcements these days. Echoing both Google and Apple,

Bizon praises the S25's Galaxy AI update as "a monumental step change in how a smartphone works for you. The best way I can describe is is like a PA in your pocket, it's bringing together seamlessly all the apps on your phone so you can perform really complex tasks with super simple commands."

The corners on the S25 Ultra are a bit more rounded, the edges are flatter, and the bezels seem to be slightly thinner. The S25 and S25+ models have the same screen size as the S24 models, at 6.2 and 6.

The Galaxy S25 is a tale of two AIs: Gemini and Bixby. Yes, while Google's Gemini AI assistant sits at the forefront—it can finally be triggered through a long press of the power button—Samsung is bringing its original Bixby voice assistant out from the shadows.

Samsung's "one more thing" at Unpacked is a thinner phone than any of its flagships. But what will it offer beyond thinness?
