The New York Mets have to fill bullpen spots, but the latest report isn't going to go over well with how they plan to do it.
The Atlanta Braves and closer Robert Suárez have reportedly agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The 24-year-old Suárez has spent his entire four-season MLB career with the San Diego Padres. He made 70 appearances during the 2025 season, recording a career-high 40 saves in 69.2 innings pitched.
The addition of Robert Suarez makes the Atlanta Braves' bullpen one of the most feared units in baseball, and improves a pitching staff that has the chance to be one of the best in the game.
Closer Robert Suarez enjoyed a superb 2025 campaign. Finishing the regular season with a 2.97 ERA, 75 strikeouts and 40 saves, the Venezuelan played a key role in helping the San Diego Padres make it to the playoffs, earning his second All-Star selection in the process.

While Bob Nightengale mistakenly predicted both the Mets and Blue Jays to sign Robert Suarez, they remain major contenders.
