"I have been briefed on the shooting the took place at Brown University in Rhode Island. The FBI is on the scene," President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. "God bless the victims and the families of the victims.
Former Providence Deputy Police Chief Thomas Verdi said it was unlikely that a high-powered rifle was used, as it would have led to more casualties.
Authorities provided more details about the Brown University shooting suspect, stating that a person of interest was detained in Providence, Rhode Island.
