Mike Sullivan and the Penguins have agreed to part ways, the team announced on Monday morning, ending his tenure as the Penguins' coach after nine seasons.

Whoever coaches the Penguins gets to coach Sidney Crosby. The owner, Fenway Sports Group, has deep pockets. Pittsburgh is one of America’s great hockey markets and boasts state-of-the-art practice facilities and a loyal fan base.

The team announced it was parting ways with the two-time Stanley Cup winning coach just over a week after the Penguins missed out on the playoffs for a third straight season.
