Yaxel Lendeborg scores 29 points and No. 2 Michigan stays unbeaten with 101-83 win over Maryland
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Yaxel Lendeborg had 29 points, a career-best nine assists and eight rebounds, and No. 2 Michigan rallied from a nine-point deficit Saturday night to defeat Maryland 101-83.

The last time Maryland (6-5, 0-2 Big Ten) gave up 100 points to three opponents in one season occurred during the 1992-93 campaign when No. 6 North Carolina, unranked Florida State and the No. 1 Tar Heels (again) scored 101, 105 and 102 points, respectively. The 1990-91 squad allowed five opponents to cross the century mark.
Michigan Wolverines basketball was down five at halftime, 50-45, but put up 56 points in the second half to run away from Maryland in U-M’s second road victory over the season to improve to 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten.
The Wildcats added to one of the best résumés in the country by defeating Alabama 96-75. Arizona boasts five ranked wins: Florida, UCLA, UConn, Alabama and Auburn. Michigan received the second-most first-place votes (15) after defeating Villanova and Maryland. Duke, another team that challenged for the No. 1 spot, was idle.
The 7-1 Wildcats (No. 35 in the NCAA’s NET rankings) haven’t lost since a season-opening setback against BYU (No. 10 in the AP poll) in Las Vegas, 71-66. Villanova hasn’t been seriously challenged since.
Women’s basketball lost star guard Kaylene Smikle for the season, but the Terps answered with one of the wildest wins of the Brenda Frese era — a double-overtime comeback at Minnesota that highlighted the depth and resilience they’ll need the rest of the season.
