The biggest celebration in the area was the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks show. The 25-minute display lit up the sky over the East River, and with the Brooklyn Bridge as the backdrop, it was truly a spectacular sight witnessed by hundreds of thousands of spectators.

The 49th Independence Day Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks special will air a spectacular fireworks show on Friday, July 4. The special will be hosted by Ariana DeBose live from the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC and will air at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

Independence Day celebrations were held across the Tri-State Area on Friday, but the biggest was the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks show in New York City. CBS News New York's Alecia Reid reports.
