A cold front is poised to bring the risk of severe storms and heavy rain to the Houston area Thursday. Will our next cold front send temperatures plummeting?

Thursday will bring the combination of muggy air, a cold front and a strong upper-level disturbance. Expect at least a scattering, and possibly a line of strong to severe storms including the slight chance for a tornado or high winds.

We'll get noticeably warmer Wednesday as a more humid south breeze returns - that will set the stage for scattered storms that could begin in the afternoon and will reach their peak by Thursday as a cold front pushes through Southeast Texas.
