Over a dozen schools in the Denver area will either have an early release or will be cancelled due to the extreme heat expected on Thursday.
An Ozone Action Day alert was issued Tuesday evening that ranges south to Douglas County, through the Denver area and north through Boulder, Larimer and Weld counties, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The alert will remain in effect through at least 4 p.m. Thursday.
