Brian Hoyer, a longtime backup quarterback to Tom Brady, played under McDaniels in both New England and Las Vegas over his NFL career. The 39-year-old was recently asked if he'd have any interest in returning to the Patriots to help Maye learn the system:

Coach Mike Vrabel addressed the report that he told Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady that he was taking the New England Patriots job. That conversation reportedly led to the Raiders passing on interviewing Vrabel altogether. However, according to Vrabel, that might not have been specifically how things went.

The Raiders didn’t simply forget to interview Mike Vrabel before he landed with the Patriots. Vrabel told his former Patriots teammate Tom Brady — who owns a minority stake in the Raiders — that he probably was going to end up back in New England, according to an NFL Network report.

With his increased involvement with the Raiders, will Brady really stick around for a full decade as a broadcaster? His agent says, "Yes."

Tom Brady's first season as an NFL broadcaster rolls on into the Divisional round this weekend. Brady is in the first year of a 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX, the largest deal in sports broadcasting history.
