Southwest Airlines is getting set to completely overhaul its seating setup, with its first-ever assigned and extra-legroom seats officially launching next

JetBlue (JBLU) and Southwest Airlines (LUV) edged lower on Friday after BofA Global Research downgraded both stocks to ‘Underperform’ from ‘Neutral’. According to TheFly, the BofA analyst said both airlines trade at the high end of historical valuation ranges despite less exposure to "the strongest industry trends.

The latest promotion also comes as JetBlue rolled out the ability to pay for flights with Venmo, the popular peer-to-peer payment app. Venmo is now present as a payment option on JetBlue’s website, though it will also become available on the airline’s mobile app later this year.

Venmo payment options are the latest announcement in a broader effort from JetBlue to enhance its services and boost profits. The struggling low-cost carrier has searched for new revenue streams as larger airlines introduce their own budget options, increasing competition for those flyers.

JetBlue stock price has underperformed other American airline companies like United Airlines, Delta, and American Airlines. It has dropped by over 63% from its highest level in 2021, bringing its valuation to $2.

JetBlue announced a three-day winter sale on Tuesday, with one-way fares out of Boston for as low as $49. The deal, which ends Jan. 30, is valid for trips taken between Feb. 3 and April 9 and excludes Friday and Sunday travel.
