LeBron James has made it abundantly clear that one of his post-playing plans involves owning an NBA team. As such, it's unsurprising he won't be involved in business manager Maverick Carter's ambitious plan to start a global basketball league rivaling the NBA.

The group of investors is trying to raise $5 billion for an international league that would consist of 12 teams - six each for men and women.

Maverick Carter, Lebron James’ business partner, is advising a group of investors looking to put together an international basketball league. UBS and Evercore are advising on the deal, while early backers include tech executives and a private equity firm with a stake in Carter and James’ media company.
