The Chicago Bears wasted no time clearing out veteran players this week, setting the stage for major shake-ups in NFL free agency and the 2025 draft.

The Chicago Bears have missed out on a chance to add a pair of third-round draft picks after the latest NFL hiring announcement.

The Bears will be selecting 10th overall in the 2025 NFL draft. There are a slew of needs on the roster, most notably along the offensive line, where there are three (possibly four) starting spots up for grabs, outside of right tackle Darnell Wright. But they also have needs in the defensive trenches.

EDGE DeMarcus Walker and tight end Gerald Everett were sent packing, a pair of moves that will likely impact how Bears GM Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson approach the NFL Draft.

The first NFL Draft pick from South Alabama, Everett played for USA in 2015 and 2016, joining the Jaguars when UAB dropped its football program after his single season with the Blazers in 2014. Everett is a free agent for the fourth time in his NFL career. This is the first time it has been involuntarily.
