Sinclair, a major local TV station group, announced that its board has authorized a "comprehensive strategic review" for its broadcast business, including potential sales and acquisitions.

Sinclair said on Monday its board has authorized a strategic review of the company's broadcast business and it is considering a separation of its Ventures portfolio, sending its shares up 15% in extended trading.

Hunt Valley-based Sinclair Inc. is gearing up to join an expected wave of broadcast industry mergers and acquisitions, signaling it could buy or sell TV stations or seek new business partners.

Robbins last worked as vp and general manager of Sinclair's Baltimore stations, WBFF-WNUV-EBFF. He joined Sinclair in 2003 as general sales manager in Baltimore, before being elevated to station manager and then vp and gm in 2021.
