Scheffler is beginning to lap the field with his dominance on the PGA Tour, even drawing comparisons to a legendary racehorse.

But, with 36 holes left, the Claret Jug is still very much up for grabs. Scheffler is paired up with Matt Fitzpatrick, who held a share of the lead after Thursday and then backed that up with a 5-under 66 on Friday. He's starting just a shot back from Scheffler. Brian Harman and Haotong Li are tied at 8-under to start the day, too.

Scottie Scheffler's name lurked menacingly on the leaderboard early at the 2025 Open Championship after a 68 sent him into Round 2 just one shot back of the leaders. He wound up five off the pace set by Brian Harman and Haotong Li when he teed off Friday only to conclude his second round in a flurry,
