Similar to the Covid pandemic restrictions, evictions would be prevented for a year for those impacted by the wildfires in LA County, under a Board of Supervisors motion being considered Tuesday.

Eligible tenants would receive a defense against the legal process that results in eviction. They must live in unincorporated LA County and would need to show that they've lost at least 10% of their monthly income and make less than 150% of the area median income.

An initial step was taken Tuesday to provide limited eviction protections for renters and small business owners financially impacted by the January wildfires in Los Angeles County.
