'Hope' is for Colts Anthony Richardson to practice in near future
With three weeks left in the regular season for the Indianapolis Colts, Anthony Richardson may be nearing his return. According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Richardson has been medically cleared after suffering an orbital fracture on Oct. 12th. "The hope," as Zenitz put it, is for Richardson to be back practicing "in the near future."
Well, first, the Colts have to activate Richardson from IR and open his 21-day practice window. The third-year quarterback hasn't played a snap since October 5th against the Las Vegas Raiders, when he was put in during garbage time to close out a blowout win.
The Colts coaxed Philip Rivers out of retirement last week and they may be getting another one of their former starting quarterbacks back on the practice field soon.
Richardson (orbital) has been cleared to resume football activities but it remains uncertain whether he will return for Indianapolis' final three games of the regular season, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 reports.
Daniel Jones revolutionized the Indianapolis Colts with his display during 14 weeks of the 2025 NFL season. The veteran quarterback joined the AFC South team surrounded by doubts after a tumultuous six-year tenure with the New York Giants, where he failed to unlock his potential.
