Mary Sheffield will be Detroit's next mayor after a hard-fought campaign in 2025 ended with the city council president locking in victory on election day.

Voters in Detroit are deciding between council President Mary Sheffield and megachurch leader Solomon Kinloch at the polls Tuesday, Nov. 4 to see who replaces Mike Duggan.

One of the candidates on the ticket hoping to capture the Motor City's vote is the Rev. Solomon Kinloch, who will face off against City Council President Mary Sheffield. "I'm excited. I feel the energy and the momentum in the air. I smell change," Kinloch told CBS News Detroit.
