Beyoncé has finally won Album of the Year. The win comes more than two decades into her career for Cowboy Carter, her history-making eighth studio album created in response to her experience being rejected from the country genre as a Black woman from the South.

“People don’t make albums anymore,” Beyoncé Knowles-Carter said in a 2013 interview in her HBO documentary. Her most recent album, “Cowboy Carter,” a celebration of Blackness, love, spirituality and blend of country music with other genres recently won Grammys for album of the year and country album of the year.

Beyoncé, who was nominated for 11 awards, also won for best country duo/group performance for the song “II Most Wanted.”

Well, the Recording Academy finally decided to recognize the artist Beyoncé for the grandest prize of them all. After four whiffs on Album of the Year, the Grammys awarded Beyoncé with the biggest award of the night for her country crossover hit Cowboy Carter.
