The Minnesota Wild have acquired Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks in the biggest blockbuster trade of the NHL season. Minnesota sent center Marco Rossi, winger Liam Ohgren, defenseman
The Detroit Red Wings reportedly refused to give up a certain asset that the Canucks wanted in a potential deal for superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes.
In one of the biggest trades in NHL history, Minnesota acquired the Norris Trophy-winning star captain from Vancouver.
The Devils came in second place for Quinn Hughes. The 26-year-old superstar Canucks defenseman — who is brothers with Devils players Jack and Luke Hughes — was shockingly dealt to the Minnesota Wild on Friday. Going to Vancouver in the deal is Marco Rossi, Zeev Buium, Liam Ohgren and a first round pick, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reported.
Hughes does not have no-trade or no-move protection. Therefore, the Canucks can trade him anywhere they wish, and have indicated they are prepared to do just that. While it’s believed Hughes prefers East long-term, the Canucks could send him West if one of those teams stepped up and took a chance.
The Hughes trade speculation has reached the point where betting sites are starting to notice. PlayNow Sports, which is the official sports betting partner of the Canucks, has already released odds on who Hughes will play for in the future. 13 teams are listed, while betters can also select the field if they would like.
