The Blue Jays, already with one of the best rotations in baseball, just flexed their muscle again. They’ve agreed to terms with right-hander Cody Ponce on a three-year, $30 million deal, a source confirms to MLB.
The Toronto Blue Jays made the biggest splash of the MLB offseason on Tuesday, signing right-hander Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million contract. The deal is the largest in franchise history, and Cease will join Kevin Gausman and Trey Yesavage at the top of Toronto’s rotation.
The biggest free agent the Blue Jays had heading into the offseason was All-Star infielder Bo Bichette. A Blue Jays draft pick in 2016, he hasn't been with any other organization. He's a two-time All-Star and has been a fixture in their lineup for years.
And the Blue Jays have a good enough prospect system to at least do that, even without moving their top-tier guys.
