AUSTIN, Texas - As the freezing temperatures continue to head toward Central Texas, the emergency operations center in Austin is ramped up and ready.

The dreaded winter storm is now underway across Central Texas, marked by gusty north winds and rapidly falling temperatures.

All 254 Texas counties woke up under some form of weather alert as a massive winter storm began its trek across the eastern half of the country, dragging its reach deep into the Lone Star State.

DeSoto ISD will also be closed on Monday.
