President Donald Trump said Sunday he views his Ukrainian counterpart Volodomyr Zelensky as “calmer” and more interested in reaching a peace accord following their sit-down inside the Vatican this weekend.

Donald Trump’s meeting in the Vatican with Volodymyr Zelensky was hailed by both sides as historic. Whether it will help seal a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia will become clearer in the coming days.

Exactly who the third chair was intended for or why they did not take it is not clear, but in the end Vatican officials dressed in black robes escorted only Trump and Zelensky to sit opposite one another in St Peter’s Basilica.
