Alan Cumming is happy he got the chance to reprise his role as Kurt Wagner, a.k.a Nightcrawler, in Avengers: Doomsday after his “terrible” experience shooting X2: X-Men United . The 60-year-old actor revealed in a recent PEOPLE interview that he “just finished” filming his Doomsday scenes earlier this month.

The actor recently told People at the Televerse 2025 conference that he “just finished” filming the Russo brothers’ highly anticipated Doomsday film, which is set to hit theaters in May 2026.

Alan Cumming is back for “Avengers: Doomsday,” revising his role as the blue-skinned, sword-wielding, teleporting Nightcrawler. While Cumming famously didn’t love his time on “X2” (the character did not return for “X-Men: The Last Stand,” the actor said his second turn in the pointy ears was a healing experience.
