The sellout and premature cancellation of the two-week strike called on February 6 breaks the momentum of the strike and secures no real gains for workers, only an agreement to restart negotiations over the next 100 days.

The Colorado chain plans to resume normal hours at its stores on Wednesday after agreeing to a 100-day “period of labor peace” with UFCW Local 7.

UFCW Local 7, the union representing grocery workers on strike at King Soopers across Colorado, announced Monday night that it secured a return-to-work settlement for the striking workers.

The King Soopers union worker strike ended on Monday night when both the grocery store chain and the union reached a return-to-work settlement.

A grocery workers walkout in Colorado is over for now. United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 7, the union representing employees at Kroger-owned King Soopers stores, announced that it had agreed to a return-to-work deal with the retailer following a strike that began on Feb. 6 and involved 10,000 workers at 77 locations.

The King Soopers strike is officially over as of today, February 18. Workers began striking on February 6 over allegations of unfair labor practices by King Soopers during negotiations for a new union contract.

The agreement ensures workers receive health care and requires both entities to enter a 100-day peaceful negotiation period.
