Captain Shubman Gill is 265 not out at tea as he and Washington Sundar have led India closer to 600 runs against England on day two of the second test in Birmingham.

England stumbled to 77-3 to trail India by 510 runs on day two of the second test after skipper Shubman Gill scored a record-breaking 269 and their seamers struck early to put the tourists in a commanding position at Edgbaston on Thursday.

Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers on home turf, and deserved better than figures of two wickets for 59 runs, but England may need to battle back from another difficult position after Gill's unbeaten stand of 99 with Ravindra Jadeja.
