Trevor Rogers helps Orioles beat Red Sox. Gunnar Henderson homers, Samuel Basallo has 2 hits, 2 RBIs
Trevor Rogers took a shutout into the seventh inning, helping the Baltimore Orioles secure a 6-3 win over the Boston Red Sox.
Basallo, 21, is a former international signee out of the Dominican Republic and is a consensus top-15 prospect in the majors at this point. CBS Sports prospect expert R.J. Anderson ranked Basallo ninth overall in his midseason rankings this year, saying the following:
Are you more inclined to watch the Orioles on TV since they promoted Dylan Beavers and Samuel Basallo? We want to hear from you.
The Baltimore Orioles smoked the Houston Astros, 12-0, on Sunday night. It was the rare bright spot in an otherwise dour campaign for this O's team. Viewed as a potential World Series threat not that long ago, Baltimore has fallen to the bottom of the AL East this season. Changes are on the horizon as a result, and very few players are safe.
Of course, the 2025 Orioles don’t really have anything to play for the rest of the season. Given that the O’s are completely out of contention, a glass-half-full Orioles fan may recognize the logic behind preserving the chance to add future assets—even if it means delaying exciting prospects’ arrivals in Baltimore.
The Baltimore Orioles have a pair of top 100 prospects in Samuel Basallo and Dylan Beavers who are knocking on the door of a promotion.
