Clark County prosecutors are considering whether to pursue the death penalty against a 22-year-old man accused of fatally shooting an 11-year-old boy during a road-rage encounter on the 215 Beltway.
The officer, Anthony Simon, allegedly shot Wallace F. Fisher after the pair “were involved in a road-rage incident” that spanned approximately 1 mile of Dolsontown Road in Wawayanda around 3:45 p.m., State Police said in a statement. The men had a verbal fight that turned physical when the man brandished a knife at Simon, police said.
Thomas Drequan Perkins, 26, was arraigned on charges including two counts of armed assault with intent to murder with a firearm, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and discharging a firearm near a highway, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Perkins pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Police were unable to say when they would release the identity of the tractor-trailer driver who was killed in the crash.
