A suspected New Year’s Eve terror plot involving an obscure extremist group has been disrupted in southern California, according to US federal authorities, prompting fresh scrutiny of the Turtle Island Liberation Front and its ideology.

“The Turtle Island Liberation Front – a far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government, and anti-capitalist group – was preparing to conduct a series of bombings against multiple targets in California beginning on New Year’s Eve,” Bondi said in a statement.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said the FBI had foiled the “far-left” group’s plot for “massive and horrific terror.”

The FBI says four people have been charged for a foiled bomb plot in Los Angeles linked to the Turtle Island Liberation Front, an alleged far-left extremist group. Prosecutors say the suspects planned New Year’s Eve bombings targeting US companies and ICE agents.
