A tsunami warning has been issued for parts of Japan’s east coast after a magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck off the coastline Monday, according to Japan’s Meteorological Agency.

Another 6.7-magnitude earthquake hit Japan on Friday (December 12), just days after a powerful 7.5-magnitude quake struck the same region and left at least 50 people injured.

The Pacific coast of Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate and Miyagi prefectures could see a tsunami of up to 1 meter (3.2 feet), the agency added.
