Truist Financial on Friday exceeded Wall Street estimates for fourth-quarter profit, helped by stronger investment banking and trading activity as capital markets strengthened.

Truist Financial (NYSE:TFC) stock gained 3.0% in Friday premarket trading after the bank issued strong Q1 2025 guidance and scored a Q4 earnings beat as both net interest income and income from investment banking and trading bolstered results.

Bank of America Corp. posted fourth-quarter profit that topped analysts’ estimates as investment-banking fees hit the highest in three years and net interest income outperformed forecasts.

Goldman Sachs posted its best profit since the third quarter of 2021, driven by bankers who brought in more fees from dealmaking, debt sales and strength in trading, sending its shares up 3% before the bell.
