Indian equity benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty50, opened in red on Friday. While BSE Sensex was below 75,700, Nifty50 was near 22,900.

Indian benchmark indices closed lower on Thursday, pressured by losses in heavyweight banks and Maruti Suzuki amid U.S. tariff concerns. The BSE Sensex fell 203.22 points (0.27%) to 75,735.96, while the Nifty 50 declined 19.

Broader markets outperformed the benchmarks, with small-cap shares leading the charge. The Nifty Smallcap100 index settled with gains of 1.43 per cent

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a negative start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 22,900 level, a discount of nearly 64 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Sensex slipped 28 points to settle at 75,939, while the Nifty fell 12 points to 22,933. In contrast, the Nifty Bank climbed 483 points to 49,570, and the midcap index added 776 points, closing at 50,527.

The Q3FY25 results for mid and small cap companies saw more downgrades compared to large caps against the previous quarter, as majority of the companies were facing either top line and margin pressures.

Stock Market Closing Today On Feb 19: the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex declined 28.21 points or 0.04 per cent to close at 75939.18. The NSE Nifty went down by 12.40 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 22932.

The BSE Sensex was trading at 75,613.32, down 383.54 points or 0.50 per cent. Nifty stood at 22,815.85, down 143.65 points or 0.63 per cent. Small and midcap (SMID) indices fell 1-2 per cent.
