More details surrounding the man hailed a “hero” for tackling and disarming a gunman in the Bondi Beach shootings have been revealed by his family. Fruit shop owner Ahmed Al Ahmed was at Bondi Beach on Sunday when two gunmen engaged in a terrorist attack on the Jewish community gathering to mark Hanukkah at the iconic tourist location.

This is the moment a second hero confronted the alleged Bondi Beach gunman and kicked his rifle away before being shot at by police and set upon by bystanders who mistook him for one of the shooters.

Father-of-two Ahmed al Ahmed, from Sydney, was hailed a hero for tackling one of the gunmen before wrestling his weapon away from him.
