The Trump administration will reduce an up to $9.6 billion US loan to Ford Motor Co. and South Korea’s SK Innovation Co. after the companies announced plans to break up their electric vehicle battery-making joint venture.
While hybrid sales rose 13.6% to 16,301, Ford’s EV sales plunged 60.8% in November. Ford sold just 4,247 all-electric vehicles last month, a stark contrast from the over 10,800 it sold in the year prior.

Ford and Renault will co-develop two Ford-branded EVs for Europe, using Renault’s Ampere platform. The partnership addresses EV challenges, including low volumes, range anxiety, and limited charging infrastructure. Both automakers will explore joint production of light commercial vehicles to boost efficiency and competitiveness.
Under the partnership, Ford will use a Renault plant in northern France to produce two planned small EVs that are expected to hit the European market in 2028. The two companies will also jointly develop Renault and Ford brand vans for the continent.
