Newcastle United defender Dan Burn is set for a spell out of action after suffering a broken rib and punctured lung during the derby defeat against Sunderland.
Burn was unable to complete the first half of the heated match at the Stadium of Light, which Newcastle lost 1-0 by way of a Nick Woltemade own goal, after a nasty collision with Sunderland defender Nordi Mukiele, who was booked for his troubles.

Newcastle United defender Dan Burn was taken to hospital for scans on a rib injury following the club’s 1–0 derby defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Burn was subbed off in the 42nd minute after sustaining the injury during a sliding challenge with Sunderland defender Nordi Mukiele.
