Officer David Rose, 33, died in the line of duty on August 8, when a gunman opened fire outside the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s campus off Clifton Road. The violent attack led to a lockdown near Emory University, and six CDC buildings were hit by gunfire. Officer Rose was the first to respond and was fatally shot.

The letter sent to agency employees and reviewed by ABC News says there is a “very high likelihood” that Patrick Joseph White, 30, tried getting onto the CDC campus two days before the shooting.
